Awkwafina is an American performer and actor who began her career with clever raps that tackled the issues of sexuality and race with a a boldly comic perspective. She then expanded into Hollywood. Nora Lum, born in Forest Hills Queens to Chinese and Korean immigrants was her first musical encounter. She performed on the trumpet. In the following years, she took up traditional and hip-hop training. In college, she studied writing and women's studies. Then, she even had a short time studying Mandarin at the University of Beijing. She didn't start focusing on music until the time she finished her studies. Her My Vag song, My Vag which was her response to the Mickey Avalon song My Dick, became a popular viral sensation via the Internet and later appeared on her first LP Yellow Ranger. It also included viral hits including body positive Queef & winking home tour NYC Bitche$1. This track was directly linked to another project, Awkwafina's NYC A travel guide that was released in the year 2015. A musician and author was in her portfolio, she decided to set her sights on a third endeavor actor. In addition to early series like Girl Code and Tawk - she appeared in the movies Neighbors 2 Storks and Bad Rap. In the year 2018 she got a series of notable roles including Dude Ocean 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. Her EP came out, in Fina We Trust in June in the same year.
